You'll come with questions. (Probably a lot of them, if you've just begun working with acupuncture and Chinese medicine.) Rest assured you'll get the answers you need to feel safe and comfortable during every stage of treatment.
At your first session, we explore your condition from the holistic, Chinese perspective. This involves taking a thorough inventory of your health, lifestyle, family history, and other factors that can lead to some unexpected linkages to your current medical complaints. Some patients, for example, find that the headaches that brought them into our office have connections to the digestive discomfort, high stress levels, and restless sleep that bothered them for years. The crux of our approach lies in revealing and gradually untangling these causal webs.
After your assessment, you will have some time with the needles. Threadlike and flexible, acupuncture needles differ from those used to inoculate or draw blood. We'll work with you to keep any discomfort as mild and temporary as possible to ensure we tailor the treatment with your comfort in mind. Generally, we employ five to fifteen needles to create circulation and rebalance your flow of energy. This approach helps return your body to a state of balance and can significantly reduce physical discomfort.
